HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

Introduction

As well as December being one of most wonderful times of the year, the festive season can also be a major productivity killer. We associate this time of year with celebrations, fun, extravagant plans, food, and drink but that doesn’t mean we have to drop the ball when it comes to productivity across the board.

Below are some super handy tips that you can repeatedly look upon when needing that extra little bit of motivation around this time of year!

Motivational tips

  1. Plan- planning out the month of December onto a paper calendar can work wonders when it comes to figuring out where you are and what you are doing leading up to Christmas. Doing this allows for you to assess and see if you have adopted a healthy balance of work, socialising, exercising, and resting.

  2. Enjoyment- doing things you enjoy won’t seem like a chore, ensure there is a happy balance between what you have to do and what you want to do.

  3. Don’t over commit- motivation will be hard to maintain if you find yourself ‘spread too thinly’. Things will seem even more unachievable if you have too much going on. Ensuring realistic plans are in place will mean motivation remains high.

  4. Make working out THE social- this time of year allows for dress up, crazy ideas and dragging people in to participate a given! So why not ‘kill two birds with one stone’ and log your exercise, with friends, while keeping a festive theme!

  5. Simple is best- sometimes you can’t beat a wonderful body weight exercise circuit. So even if gyms aren’t accessible then you can train at home!

  6. Reward yourself- when you’ve achieved your goal, no matter what it is, treat yourself as a well-deserved WELL DONE! This can be a night off, food, drink, or socialising.

  7. Try and delete guilt- this is a hard one, but December chaos can sometimes get in the way. Time is never wasted when you’re doing all that you need to do to make yourself happy.

  8. Get it done early- logging exercise early in the day means you can continue for the rest of the day with all that you have planned without the feeling of the day running away from you without moving your body effectively.

  9. Challenge- setting a challenge for the new year already can help you stay on the straight and narrow leading up to it! This could aid a better-balanced December!

  10. Don’t sacrifice sleep- the possible seems impossible when we’re sleep deprived. Ensure that with every social outing enough sleep is logged to allow for the next day to be productive!

Implement these tips if you find December is becoming overwhelming, I’m confident it’ll help!

Enjoy and have a great rest of December,
